The Artillery Tower is a important part to a Civilization's defense. It is expensive but very effective at combating large groups of enemies. The Artillery Tower automatically fires upon players who are outlaws or members from hostile or at war city-states/civilizations.
Single enemies can be outlawed using the /town outlaw add <NAME> command.
The Artillery Tower shoots a fireball projectile at it's targets, similarly to the Cannon Tower. While the boosted statistics, such as range and damage may be increased, the Artillery Tower has a much slower fire-rate and projectile speed. When the Artillery Tower fires, it locks onto a target and from then on the calculated impact zone won't change. The impact zone will also be shown with particles so that attackers have a chance to move out of the way.
The tower has a default maximum range of 250 blocks and a minimum of 35 blocks. The technical range is is sqrt(x^2 + y^2 + z^2) where x, y, and z are the difference between the Artillery Tower's nearest "fire point" and the player. Additionally, multiple Artillery Towers can only be built a minimum of 300 blocks away from each other.
This structure is very important when trying to keep out enemies from your borders since it's a long range defensive structure.
To level up to the next level, your town requires one of the following technologies; Foundation, Urbanization, Politics, Engineering.
Level | Damage Dealt | Range | Fire Rate | Blast Modifier | Splash Radius | Projectile Speed | Explosion Strength | Coin Cost | Hammer Cost |
---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 12 | 250 blocks | 12 seconds | 0.75 | 5 | 3 | 6 | 0 | 0 |
2 | 12 | 300 blocks (+50) | 12 seconds | 0.75 | 5 | 3 | 6 | 85,000 | 25,000 |
3 | 12 | 300 blocks | 12 seconds | 0.75 | 10 (+5) | 3 | 6 | 135,000 | 45,000 |
4 | 16 (+4) | 300 blocks | 12 seconds | 0.75 | 10 | 3 | 6 | 200,000 | 75,000 |
5 | 16 | 300 blocks | 12 seconds | 0.75 | 10 | 3.5 (+0.5) | 6 | 250,000 | 120,000 |
6 | 16 | 300 blocks | 12 seconds | 0.75 | 10 | 3.5 | 9 (+3) | 325,000 | 157,500 |
Level 6 requires Brandenburg Gate.
Damage Dealt is quite straight forward. This stat is the damage the tower does whenever the player has been hit the Artillery tower. It's counted in half hearts. (2 damage = 1 heart)
Range are calculated from the middle from the structure to the player. If a player is outside of range the tower won't shoot.
Fire Rate means in seconds how fast the Artillery tower can shoot. If you have a fire rate of 1 this means that the Artillery tower will shoot 1 beam per second.
Blast modifier means what the minimum amount of damage you can receive when you are on the outside of the splash radius. The formula is calculated like this: "1 - (distance from center / splash)"
Splash radius means how many blocks a player can be damaged by. For example you are 5 blocks away from the center of impact and the splash radius is 5, then you will still receive damage.
The projectile speed stat is a stat which means how fast the projectile is travelling towards the enemy. A higher rate is better since it will travel faster.
This stat is the strength of the explosion on impact. How higher the value, how bigger the crater will be.
