The Settler unit is used to found new Towns. Every Barracks can train 2 different settlers. When you select your Settler Unit a Town Founding item will appear in your hotbar. When using the item you will be able to found a new Town. There are some requirements which are listed below.
- Towns need to be 6 empty culture zones away from another civilizations culture zone. This doesn’t apply to your own culture. Thus you could technically place a new TH 1 culture zone away from another one of your own towns.
- The settler you are using must have been trained by your civilization; you cannot use another civ's settler to found a town in your civ.
The default Coin Cost for training a Settler is 25,000 Coins. This value scales based on how many Settlers you have trained in your Civilization. The formula is 25,000 coins + (amount of Settlers trained * 25,000 coins)
Ex. 2nd Settler = 50k; 3rd Settler = 75k ...
Also the hammer and growth cost will scale on how many Settlers you have trained same as cost coins.
The formula is 1,000 hammers/500 growth + (amount of Settlers trained * 1000hammers/500growth)
Ex. 2nd Settler = 2k hammer/1k growth; 3rd Settler = 3k hammer/1,500 growth ...
You gain some unhappiness in every town inside the Civilization based on how many towns you have placed.
You can find this information on the Happiness page in the "Table Of Unhappiness".
The Policy Large Empire makes it so your Unhappiness is reduced by 1 for every 5 Towns.
