The Trommel is a unique structure that compliments mining by allowing miners to dump their excess stones or obsidian into the Trommel to screen it for precious minerals that may have been missed. The Trommel consumes the stones and in return has a small chance of generating Iron, Gold, Diamond, Emeralds, Redstone, Lapis Lazuli and their ores. The Trommel produces Dirt or gravel as a byproduct. You can toggle it in the Trommel Manager which spawns near the deposit chest. Both the byproduct and the precious minerals are stored in a single double chest.
If the storage chest becomes full the structure will jam and stop working until the storage chest is cleared. It is important that the Trommel's storage chest is emptied often or it will not function. If you have a Warehouse built it will have more space so you are not limited to a single double chest as output.
The Trommel is very simple to operate, simply put stone into the input chest. The stone will then start processing and generating dirt or gravel and sometimes, if you're lucky, precious minerals and metals.
Each type of stone has a different rolling dice. The lower the dice number, the better rate you will get for the ores.
For example: An obsidian dice has 20 eyes, meaning if you have 1% chance for an ingot to roll, you have 5% to receive that ingot, if you have normal cobblestone, it will be 1%. The trommel rate is affected by your Government.
Besides the ores, you can also un-craft your custom stones to use them in the trommel too, or craft them back to the required stones you need.

Each level will increase chance of re-rolling dirt and gravel into another mats by 10% if it rolls dirt again it wont chain and try again. Rerolled material that aren't dirt are doubled so you can get 2 diamonds per cobblestone with enough luck. There are several other bonuses that may affect the Trommel. You can find them at the Bonus Rate later in this page.
To level up to the next level, your town requires one of the following technologies; Construction Site, Sifting, Core Mining, Civil Service.
